| New York-based couple Lex and Lynn had “Fall Foliage and Jewels” as their wedding theme. “Of the four seasons, fall is definitely my favorite time of the year,” Lex reasoned out. Lynn, the other hand, enthused: “While the idea sounded good, a fall theme seemed common and usual to me. I wanted something more unique.
I decided then to include ‘Jewels’ in our theme. We're having a Jewel-Fall wedding theme. So where did the Jewel part of the theme come from? I love to accessorize! Everyone who knows me well enough knows that about me. My Mom creates these fantastic crystal jewelry pieces that I love to wear, give as gifts to friends and sometimes even sell. So why not incorporate jewels into our theme, right? We carefully chose the rich colors of green (peridot), purple (amethyst) and burnt orange (citrine) as our motif. It is a great thing that these are some of the colors of fall too! So it is definitely a match!”
Long hours on the phone and tons of e-mails proved to be important in this well-organized and well-planned affair – from the invitations to the souvenirs, to the dress and the floral arrangements. Having strong aesthetic sense, both Lex and Lynn didn’t leave anything to chance. They were hands-on with the nitty-gritty of their wedding.
Clad in her exquisite Frankie de Leon gown which featured a plunging haltered top with a dramatic back lace detail, the bride was made up by Eddie Bruan. The ceremony started with the amazing voices of 92AD ably accompanied by The String Minstrels. The bride walked down the aisle to meet her dashing groom. Wearing dresses also done by De Leon, the members of the wedding entourage were a sight to behold in their peridot, amethyst and citrine gowns.
Cocktails were held at the Upper Lobby of The Peninsula Manila. Guests were served nuts, cookies and chocolates hand-carried by the couple from the States. The newly-renovated Rigodon Ballroom of The Peninsula Manila was transformed by the young and talented Jun Hen into a fall garden inclusive of the ceiling drapes in champagne.
Later that evening, the ballroom was lighted in shades of purple and orange completing the wedding theme. Before the couple’s entrance, an audio visual presentation done by award- winning Jason Magbanua was shown. On cue, the couple made their grand entrance and the programme started with their first dance. The couple then proceeded to their jewel-inspired wedding cake done by Penk Ching of Pastry Bin.
Photographs taken by Dino Lara during the hotel preparations, church ceremonies and snippets of the reception were flashed while dinner was served. The mother of the bride, Mrs. Daisy Cortez, delivered a touching, well-applauded speech. The couple, in return, thanked their guests and surprised their parents with a tribute AVP. An upbeat onsite audio-visual presentation tastefully done by Jason Magbanua capped the night. The gorgeous couple flew back to New York where they both work as systems analysts.
Special Touches:
a) The couple had their ambigram, also known as an inversion, which is a graphical figure that spells out a word not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation. This typically materializes when it is viewed as a mirror-image or when rotated through 180 degrees. Theirs still read "Lex&Lynn" even when you read it upside-down!
b) The guest book featured their life in New York and other trivia. A seasoned photographer, Lex has perfectly captured all their travels together for posterity. On the other hand, Lynn unleashed her artistry in the layout of the guest book.
c) The mother of the bride, another creative force during the pre-nuptial preparations, supervised the personalized crafting of essential articles – wedding cord, ring pillow, bag charm giveaways, bride’s cuff, entourage’s accessories, misalette trinkets, table numbers, unity candles, and sundry items. |
